Teaching Resources for A&S Course Instructors

Arts & Science course instructors may use the links described below in their course syllabi and on Quercus. Active encouragement will help students take advantage of the wide range of resources for writing support available in the Faculty of Arts & Science.

  1. Arts & Science Writing Centres offer a mix of in-person and online appointments, with an asynchronous option at some centres. Students can find information about the offerings of specific college writing centres here. Students should visit each individual centre’s site for information on how to make an appointment.
  2. More than 60 advice files on all aspects of academic writing are available on the UofT’s Writing Advice site. Students benefit from recommendations of specific material relevant to your course and assignments. Printable PDF versions are collected here.
  3. You may especially want to refer students to How Not to Plagiarize and other advice on documentation format and methods of integrating sources.
  4. For group instruction on writing and study skills, please refer students to the Writing Plus workshop series. Students may register for these workshops here.
  5. The Faculty of Arts & Science has an English Language Learning program for undergraduate students seeking to improve their English language skills. For more information, please contact ELL coordinator Leora Freedman at ell.newcollege@utoronto.ca.
